STEM - Electric Elevator Workshop for Pri 5 - Sec 1!

STEM (an abbreviation for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is an initiative by bringing Applied Learning to schools.​

Through these hands-on activities, we seek to raise students’ aspirations in pursuing STEM careers by building a bridge between textbook knowledge and real-world applications. ​ Students will learn the fundamental concepts of STEM, which will help them to apply the knowledge and appreciate the impact of STEM in everyday life.

Through this workshop, students will cultivate essential 21st Century competencies of:

• Co-operation & Participation
• Inquiry & Research
• Problem-solving​.

Electric Elevator

Elevators are common in our daily lives. Can we make an elevator that operates automatically? Our programme inculcates in students the love for exploration with tangible learning experiences through hands-on activities to stimulate critical and creative thinking, and the development of process skills.We engage students in experiential learning through making, building, playing and creating. Students will be able to apply their knowledge in Science and Maths to build an innovative prototype using the STEM Plus Thematic Project materials and programming micro:bit to control the movement of the servo motor.

Do note that the workshop will be conducted physically at the Times Centre. Should there be any changes to the regulations by the government, the workshop will be conducted online instead.

Speakers' Profile: Ms Ana Marie

Ana Marie is an educator certified by Singapore's Ministry of Education. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and 11 years of teaching experience. Ana specialises in STEM programmes and other ICT-related training. With extensive experience in Microsoft's range of software solutions and Google applications, she is an expert at designing training courses with technical content effective at imparting knowledge for learners.
