Important - Please note that this eventbrite ticket does not entitle you to a seat at our weekly making and coding sessions at CoderDojo Altona North. We use Eventbrite for tracking purposes only. So please DO NOT PICK UP A TICKET unless your enrollment has been approved. Only pick up a ticket if your kid(s) enrollment for this term has been approved. About Coder Dojo Altona North - At CoderDojo Altona North [http://altonanorthdojo.com/], young people aged between 7 and 17, learn how to code (Scratch, Python, Robotics, Electronics, Amateur Radio, etc.), interact with the real world using sensors and the Arduino, develop programs on the Raspberry Pi, develop websites, develop mobile apps, develop simple programs, develop games, build robots and explore various aspects of technology in an informal, safe, and creative environment.

What are the nature of activities kids would be involved in at Coder Dojo Altona North - In addition to learning to code, exploring the basics of electronics and robotics, exploring fundamentals of wave propagation using Amateur Radio, etc. attendees meet like minded people and are exposed to a world of possibilities of technology. An individuals creativity is the only limit. We invite kids of all ages starting 7-17 and their parents to come along.

At CoderDojo Altona North we might consider following coding/making tracks where it makes sense, especially with our young makers who are getting started. With the more experienced makers we will let the kids choose what they want to work on, and the mentors guide and help them along their journey of discovery into the world of technology. Some of the things we do at CoderDojo Altona North include:

• Fundamentals of coding using Scratch
• Exploring electronics using the BBC micro:bit
• Python development on the Raspberry Pi, BBC micro:bit
• Minecraft gaming & development
• Robotics with the Makeblock mBot, mBot Ranger
• Robotics with the GoPiGo 3 Raspberry Pi robot
• Electronics fundamentals using ArduinoCoding in HTML & CSS (websites)
• Development of simple mobile apps

Access to all the course content at CoderDojo Altona North is offered through our Learning Management System at https://www.kidzcancode.com and https://learning.kidzcancode.com. We use the Learning Management system to give you access to the tutorials and also track your childs progress through the term.

What to Bring Along - Please bring along the following:

1.     A laptop. Borrow one from somebody if needs be.
2.     All hardware you will hack with will need to be purchased for use during the tutorials i.e. Arduino, Raspberry Pi.
3.     We'll let you when you are at a point where you need to invest in the hardware i.e. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc. Initially only a laptop is required.
4.     A parent! (Very important). If you are 12 or under, your parent must stay with you during the session.
5.     Intent to learn, make and create...:)
