About this Event

The Kern County Career & STEM Expo is a career awareness event geared towards the students and employers of Kern. The FREE event will be held on April 26, 2023 at the Career Technical Education Center. The focus of the event is to build Career & STEM awareness for tomorrow’s workforce. Employers from Kern County will have the opportunity to promote the different career opportunities that are available within their companies through an interactive booth. Middle school and high school students are invited to attend the event to learn more about the different career paths available to them in their community.
Vendor Booths-
Over 100 employer exhibitors will have booths set up with demonstrations, hands-on activities, industry vehicles, and presentations on careers at the event. Students will be able to interact directly with employees from the wide range of companies participating in the event to learn about the various careers that their company offers.

Speaker Series -
They are currently working securing our speaker for the Speaker Series. Information will be provided as soon as final arrangements are made.

Makerspace-
A “makerspace” will be available inside for students to engage in STEM thinking through hands-on activities. The makerspace is located upstairs in the main building. Access to the makerspace area can be found outside at the southwest corner of the main building.

Explore CTEC-
The CTEC campus offers a wide variety of career technical education programs that are available to all students in our community during their junior and senior year in high school. Students attending the event will be able to take a guided tour of the building to see the many unique learning spaces available. The starting point for the guided tour can be found near the exterior south west side of the main building.

Science Lab Activity-
PG&E will be hosting science demonstrations in the science lab found inside the main building. Students access these demonstrations through the exterior entrance on the southeast exterior entrance to the main building.

Live Demonstrations at Outdoor Stage-
There will be live STEM and career related demonstrations happening in the outdoor amphitheater area throughout the event. Demonstrations will include various robots, drones, etc. A complete list of scheduled demonstrations will be posted as the event gets closer.

We encourage you to submit a work sample highlighting what your student learned from this field trip during your next learning period. It helps to ensure that we can continue to provide these opportunities.
