What’s the difference between afternoon tea and high tea? What was considered proper etiquette and taste? Which spoon should go where? Learn this and more about the culture, etiquette, and elegance of tea in the late Victorian era while tasting era-appropriate teas and treats directly inspired by this fascinating historical moment!
Step into the world of the Mabry-Hazen family and discover the rituals of the formal parlor, the “Calling Hour” during an “At Home” day, and learn about the social expectations of Knoxville’s elite during the late 19th century. This event features a short history lesson followed by a selection of tea and treats in one of the city's most storied settings.
