We are super excited to continue the work we started upstream of the Peninsula section of Steelhead Creek this Fall with creek steward Roland Brady, PhD and Friends of Steelhead Creek. Please come out and help us clear the channel for the Salmon. 🐟🐟🐟The work site will be on the LEFT/EAST bank of Steelhead Creek, near the Del Paso/Main Bridge. We will meet at the levee gate at the end of Kelton Way near Robla Creek. PLEASE be on time (early ok) since we have to lock the gate behind us. At 9 am SHARP, we will caravan to the cleanup site. Unfortunately, late comers and folks needing to leave early cannot be accommodated.
Please note, due to the travel time in and out of the project site, the duration for this series of Steelhead Creek events has been extended to 3 1/2 hours until further notice.
We will continue our attack on trash and debris lining the banks and channel of Steelhead Creek, both new and old, as we work in this project area.
AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 14 years old. Minors 14 and older are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event.
There will be plenty of hard-core badgering (digging out the big stuff), but also lots of easy detail work along the flat floodplain above the creek. We will provide bags, but please bring along your waders and/or sturdy, mud-resistant footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves - a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. As there is water in the creek and lower floodplain, participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. Entry into any waters is always optional, but is definitely helpful in this area.
As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
Overall, be safe, have fun and get some “Exercise with a Purpose” as Bill Templin says.
Thank you!💚
