Steampunk weekend 2026: Afternoon Teas
Join us this Bank Holiday Weekend for the fabulous Weekend at the Asylum Steampunk Festival in the heart of Lincoln.
The County Assembly Rooms will be hosting two formal Tea Parties on Friday 28 August.
Mad Hatter’s Tea Party
Join your hosts Fiona and Nimrod from the Ministry of Steampunk to settle down for a Mad Hatters’ Tea Party on Friday afternoon from 1 – 2:30PM. There is no special dress code for the event, but the Mad Hatter’s tea party commonly attracts one or two Mad Hatters, Alice, a Queen or two, the occasional rabbit and Cheshire cat. But there is no need to be limited by Lewis Carroll’s imagination – any kind of steampunk outfit is appropriate so long as you leave a little space for your waistline to expand during the event.
Tea will include a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, Victoria sponge, handmade shortbread and a selection of sweet treats served with bottomless tea and coffee. Please note if you have any dietary requirements or allergies, you must select the free dietary add on when purchasing your ticket.
Afternoon Tea with Alice Strange
Our second Afternoon Tea on Friday afternoon will be a special opportunity for fans to have afternoon tea with the fabulous Alice Strange.
Alice will not be performing at this event (her main performance of the weekend will be at Time Travellers on Sunday) but she will come around the tables where you will be taking tea to chat and meet her fans and other guests.
Although Alice will not be singing she will be bringing along some merch (and a trusty assistant or two) and this will be the first opportunity of the weekend for fans to purchase any of Alice’s merch before anything sells out.
The event will start at 3:30 and end at 5:00 PM.
During the event you will be able to enjoy a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, Victoria sponge, handmade shortbread served and a selection of sweet treats with bottomless tea and coffee. Please note if you have any dietary requirements or allergies, you must select the free dietary add on when purchasing your ticket.
For the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and for Afternoon Tea with Alice Strange
You can upgrade either tea party with a glass of fizz on arrival.
Both events will be suitable for those with allergies and dietary requirements. Upon check out please also add a free allergen ticket and a member of our team will be in touch prior to the event to ensure there is something you can eat. If you are concerned about dietary requirements please do not hesitate to get in touch at [email protected] or call us on 01522520098 and we will be more than happy to help.
Both tea parties are all-age but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult and both the child and adult must have a tea party ticket and a festival wristband (see below)
A note about Festival Wristbands
Both afternoon tea parties are taking place as part of Weekend at the Asylum, the Steampunk Festival. Entry to the County Assembly Rooms (and hence to the tea parties) requires a Festival Wristband which you can pre-order at https://buytickets.at/mosevent/2070766
as well as a ticket to the tea party which you can order through this page.
