January 28: Creating Exhibitions Using Design ThinkingDiscover how the design-thinking process was used in the creation of the Children’s Garden at the Atlanta Botanical Garden and how it is used in exhibitions at the High Museum of Art. We’ll explore the five phases of design thinking—empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test—and discuss how each stage is important when creating an engaging exhibition. What topics could your students explore through the creation of an interactive exhibition experience?
February 4: Water: Past, Present, and Future
Explore the interdependence of civilizations on water and the natural environment with the Michael C. Carlos Museum, Georgia Aquarium, and Zoo Atlanta. While looking at environmental changes past and present, we’ll examine water sources as a key component of a healthy ecosystem and societal evolution. Collaborate with colleagues during breakout sessions to design a STEAM-focused PBL in which students can discover the current state of local water sources in their community.
