OM STEAM DOWN
Projektet, der blev dannet i maj 2017, blev født ud af Ahnanses ønske om at genoprette forbindelsen til et fællesskab: knækket ikke kun af endeløs turné, men kræfterne med gentrificering og censur, der truer kunsten over hele hovedstaden. Da Steam Down mangler et stabilt og samarbejdende rum, hvor en sådan kreativitet kunne blomstre, er Steam Down siden blevet grundlaget for et fællesskab i alle aldre, hvor kulturen var i forgrunden, genren blev afmystificeret, og prætentiøsiteten blev efterladt for døren.
OM EP'en
'Five Fruit' er en ekspansiv og ambitiøs EP, der perfekt taler til kraften i Steam Down. Hver sang er ifølge grundlæggeren Ahnanse en frugt for ånden og et middel til følelsesmæssig transformation. Med Tinyman og Afronaut Zu med tilføjelsen af ordsmeden Shumba Maasai, smelter 'Can't Hold Me Back' sammen den afrikansk-londonske synergi, som så naturligt underbygger varmen fra Steam Downs identitet, mens - sammen med 'Five Fru it' som helhed - virkelig tager gruppen til et helt nyt niveau.

ABOUT STEAM DOWN
Formed in May of 2017, the project was born out of Ahnanse's desire to reconnect to a community: fractured not only by endless touring, but the forces of gentrification and censure threatening the arts across the capital. Lacking a stable and collaborative space in which such creativity could flourish, Steam Down has since become the bedrock for a community of all ages, ane in which culture was at the foreground, genre was demystified, and pretentiousness was left at the door.
ABOUT THE EP
'Five Fruit' is an expansive and ambitious EP that perfectly speaks to the power of Steam Down. Each song, according to founder Ahnanse, is a fruit for the spirit, and a means of emotional transformation. Featuring Tinyman and Afronaut Zu with the addition of wordsmith Shumba Maasai, 'Can't Hold Me Back' fuses together the African-London synergy which so naturally underpins the heat of Steam Down's identity whilst - alongside 'Five Fru it' as a whole - truly taking the group to a whole new level.
