The event will begin with an informative lecture from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., featuring speakers from Sanford Center for Aging: Jessica Yurtinus, DPT, MS Assistant Director of the Nevada Geriatric Education Center, and Leslie Baker, PharmD, BCGP Director of Geriatric Pharmacy Services. The lecture will cover key topics such as the benefits of movement on physical and psychological well-being; how aging affects muscle strength and joint flexibility; and how medication side effects may increase the risk of falls.
Following the lecture, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., attendees are invited to participate in free balance assessments. These assessments, conducted by trained professionals, will provide personalized feedback and recommendations for improving balance and stability. Time slots must be scheduled in advance thanks to support from Nevada Goes Falls Free Coalition.
