About this Event
ABOUT THIS EVENT:
The Tulare Basin Watershed Network (TBWN), in partnership with University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) and Secure Water Future (SWF), is excited to host the 2nd State of the Tulare Basin Conference. Please join us for a day filled with learning, awareness, and problem solving with a goal to inspire further collaboration and communication among community advisors within the region.
OVERVIEW:
The TBWN is a coalition of leaders and practitioners from the agriculture and food industry, water management, ecological and conservation groups, and socio-economic interests. They range from local, regional, state, and federal agencies and organizations and seek to protect and enhance the Tulare Basin watersheds and resources. UC ANR is a statewide network of University of California researchers and educators dedicated to the creation, development, and application of knowledge in agricultural, natural, and human resources. SWF is a collaborative of investigators from across the semi-arid western US aiming to improve agricultural and environmental water resilience. We have combined efforts to co-host this critical conference.
This year’s State of the Basin conference theme is “Managing Hydroclimatic Extremes.” The event will provide a forum to increase awareness on the rich history of the basin and discuss challenges and opportunities brought about by the recent droughts and floods. Our emphasis remains on promoting a whole watershed approach - connecting upper and lower elements – for building social, economic, and environmental resilience in the region.
This event brings together leaders, practitioners and experts from diverse backgrounds and sectors to explore the environmental, economic, and social changes occurring in the region, with an emphasis on learning from recurrent flooding and droughts to gain insight in planning for the future.
