AI@UIUC Presents: State-of-the-Arts
at The Canopy Club, Urbana, IL.
Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024
6pm doors / 7pm show
Introducing “STATE-OF-THE-ARTS” — a live music experience and charity fundraiser brought to you by AI@UIUC in collaboration with Jamtown and B[U]ILT.
Featuring an earth-shattering performance by GODLY THE RULER!
with special guests: Ocean Child, Sitrus Sol, and Venus Overdrive
All proceeds will go towards B[U]ILT (Black, Indigenous, Latinx in Tech), a non-profit to empower the next generation of minority computer scientists. The funds raised will help provide fee waivers for students from underrepresented backgrounds who are applying to CS@Illinois, reducing the financial barrier and encouraging students to apply.
Our headliner, Godly the Ruler, is a genre-bending alternative artist who continuously breaks musical boundaries. Their abrasive style draws on subtle hints of punk, rock, and electronic elements and brings a fresh new take on hip hop. Their work evades simple classification and easy answers, opting to work from the gut to translate their wild imagination into eclectic, electrifying territory. Godly’s frantic world is welcome to all, but tailor-made for the outcasts of this plane, writhing in the unknown and fighting to be counted.
