Who made downtown better this year?
The State of Main Awards are Dubuque Main Street’s annual celebration of the people, businesses, projects, and ideas that are helping shape the future of downtown Dubuque.
Each year, we gather at the Hotel Julien Dubuque Ballroom for an evening of dinner, recognition, and celebration — honoring the entrepreneurs who took a chance, the property owners who brought new life to downtown spaces, the artists and organizations creating memorable experiences, the volunteers who showed up, and the people whose work made Main Street a little better than it was the year before.
But before awards night comes the part where we need you.
Nominations are open through October 7.
This year’s State of Main Awards feature nine categories recognizing outstanding contributions across downtown Dubuque. Nominations take about two minutes to complete, and you don’t need to write an essay. Tell us who deserves to be recognized and a little about why — it goes a long way.

Our committee reads every nomination before selecting this year’s honorees, who will be recognized during the State of Main Awards dinner.
The evening brings together downtown businesses, property owners, community partners, volunteers, supporters, and friends of Main Street for a chance to look back at what we accomplished together — and recognize some of the people responsible for making it happen.
