Join us for The Convening - the official launch of The State of DC Black Theatre series. Let's meet, connect, chat and celebrate with one another.
Our mission is to celebrate and amplify the history, the present and the future talent and contributions of DC's Black Theatre Community. Whether you are a Black Theatre Artist on stage, backstage, or in the office, we want to know and build community. We invite you to join us in responding to our big question:
What is the state of DC’s Black Theatre? - its community, its spaces of deep soul and experimentation; how are we doing? What do we need to do this?
As DC Black theatre artists, we are committed to creating spaces where our voices, stories, and artistry thrive. In this moment, when the structures that support diversity, equity, and inclusion are being dismantled, our work becomes even more essential.
We center our community by celebrating its richness, challenging its silencing, and amplifying the narratives that reflect our lived experiences. Through bold, authentic, and unapologetic storytelling, we honor our collective past, reflect our present, and imagine a future where Black creativity flourishes, unshaken and undeniable.
Complimentary light bites and( non-alcoholic) drinks will be served.
