About this Event
Why Start your Week in Nature?
Time in nature is a helpful antidote for the modern epidemic of anxiety, stress, and burnout. Join our Monday morning community hikes to bring a sense of calm, ritual, and clarity to your otherwise busy week!
These hikes will start with a group check-in and opportunity for intention-setting. We will then hike quietly, to enjoy the sounds of morning... the rustle of leaves, the sound of birds waking up, and the steady sound of breath moving through body. We'll pause at the top of the canyon to enjoy some solo meditation, then share our reflections over tea and guided conversation.
What is Forest Bathing?
Forest bathing (or shinrin yoku) is a Japanese inspired practice that teaches the art of slowing down and awakening the senses, in nature. Your guide, Sammy, will cue several nature connection exercises drawn from the art of forest bathing to bring structure and purpose to the walk.
Important Information for the Day Of!
What to Wear: Comfortable hiking shoes you don't mind getting muddy. Warm layers. A water bottle and optional journal or ground-cloth.
Parking/Arrival: There's limited parking on Dwight Way next to the trailhead. Please walk, bike, carpool, take public transit, or arrive early to find a parking spot.
Accessibility: People of all ages, genders, cultures, and backgrounds welcome. This is a steep hike not appropriate for anybody not in decent to good shape, or who is not steady on their feet. Hiking poles are encouraged! Please leave your dog at home, unless you rely on them as an emotional support animal, in which case please notify me ahead of time!
COVID: This is a mask-optional event. Please plan to stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms, or have had a recent close exposure.
Sliding Scale/Equity Pricing
Soul|Light recognizes that we live in an unjust society, that structurally places money and power in the hands of white male landowners while loading harm onto women and nonbinary people of color. As such, we offer all events by sliding scale. Please give generously, according to your ability, to allow everyone a chance to participate in the healing benefits of nature, and support our collective thriving.
