Start-up Stars is a series of quarterly events where scale-up graduates from the Get Ready for Business Growth programme and our previous scale-up programme share their expertise with aspiring entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative sector.
In the modern world, technology has a far-reaching impact on our daily lives. Sometimes it can feel like the digital age we live in can stifle creativity, but what if there was a way to turn the tables?
In this Start-up Stars event, you'll hear how our wonderful guest speakers used technology to their advantage to boost their creativity and grow their business.
By the end of the session, you'll be inspired to build a tech-enabled creative business of your own!

Katie Chappell | Illustrated Live
Katie Chappell is a live event illustration specialist, founder and creative director of Illustrated Live - creating visual notes live at online events globally for Google, Netflix, The United Nations, Apple & more.
In particular, Katie undertakes graphic recording at events about innovation, technology, environmental issues and social justice. In 2020, Katie co-founded online creative education company The Good Ship Illustration, helping illustrators navigate a creative career.
Julie Freeman | Translating Nature
Working with natural living systems and emergent technologies, Julie Freeman is a TED Fellow, co-founder of Fine Acts, and runs , a digital and data art studio.
Her large scale installations, sound sculptures and online artworks have, since the early 1990s, pioneered her conceptual and critical approach to working with real-time sound and data as a living and malleable art materials. Julie has shown work at leading institutions including the V&A, the ICA, Modern Art Oxford, the Barbican and the Science Museum, as well as internationally. She has been recognised by many organisations including the BBC, The Guardian, New Scientist. Julie founded the Open Data Institute’s art programme ‘Data as Culture’ in 2012.
The event will take place on Zoom and you will be sent the access link 24 hours before the start of the event.
