Bios
Elizabeth Royall is an indie/alt-rock singer-songwriter based in Ottawa, Ontario. In 2019, she was a performer at la Maison de la Culture in a lineup including french artists like Dany Bédar, Les 2 frères, Stéphanie St-Jean, Steve Veilleux, and La Chicane. Her first single "Leave Me" achieved semi-finalist status in the 2020 International Songwriting Competition, and she has been honored with SOCAN's 2024 Young Canadian Songwriter Awards. Drawing from influences such as Fleetwood Mac, The Cranberries, Radiohead, and Mazzy Star, Elizabeth aims to provide her listeners with a healing journey through her music, often addressing themes of mental health and addiction in her lyrics. Royall is rising to recognition, playing both Bluesfest and the Folk Music Ontario Conference in 2025, along with more intimate venues.
Loch Nisse Monster originated from the swamps of a 70's-themed house party, where the singer-songwriter was told that her name sounded like that of the famous Scottish monster. Telling stories and painting emotions with a mesh of alternative folk and indie rock, Nisse’s music has drawn comparisons to Lucy Dacus, Angel Olsen, Hayley Williams, Adrianne Lenker, Sarah McLachlan, and Stevie Nicks. The "monster" in Loch Nisse Monster doesn't hesitate to get at ironic and unjust truths, yet with the hope of tales. Loch Nisse Monster’s craftful lyricism expresses feelings in unconventional ways, evoking recognition in the listener’s own world.
Loch Monster Media is an Ottawa-based initiative creating experiences in indie performance and art in Ontario and Quebec. Focussing on community sourced programming and sustainable support of artists, Loch Monster Media is behind the seasonal Indie Folk Nite Series at Live on Elgin, the Spring Indie Folk Festival, and popular one-off events such as Punk Frenzy, Tropical Escape, Forensis: The Musical M**der Mystery, and Hold on ‘til Valentine’s. In addition to hand-picked local talent, Loch Monster Media has booked award-winning and major-festival playing artists such as Sarah Segal-Lazar, Wild Remedy, The Lionyls, and Amanda Lowe Warnakulasuriya, generating buzz in local journalism and radio, and Folk Canada’s country-wide newsletter.
