Held every March since 1651, Starkbierzeit means “strong beer season."
To truly be considered a "Starkbier" the brew must have a minimum ABV of 7.5 percent. This heady style originated from an unlikely source: Bavarian Monks. The names typically end with the suffix "ator," in keeping with tradition ever since the Paulaner friars brewed the "forefather of all strong beers."
Friday highlights a ceremonial cask tapping event of our doppelbock beer: Branchinator
Saturday has live music, costume contest, and Instagram photo contest to combine the traditional celebration with our current times
Balance out the strong Branchinator Starkbier with a Bratwurst platter that includes sides of red cabbage, potato, and sauerkraut, or enjoy a Bavarian Pretzel with Obatzda, an authentic Bavarian cheese spread. We will, of course have our regular menu options available.
