Tango is special among the ballroom dances. It is more stylized than the other dances and it is more specifically suited to a kind of music that is rarely heard in popular music. Despite these restrictions, it is thrilling to dance when you understand the essence of Tango and you have the right music played over a great dance floor. With this kind of "joy of dance" in mind we've decided to bring you the best American Tango teachers for our group lesson at the May 11th dance.Jonathan Medlin and Malin Allert can indeed demonstrate and share with you the joy of Tango that springs from its close connection to the music. They are highly accomplished competitors, teachers and coaches in all the ballroom dances plus they are highly regarded for promoting and sharing their hard won skills by organizing the annual Triangle Open competition in Raleigh that attracts all the best ballroom dancers from throughout the Eastern US.
With Jonathan and Malin starting our dance with a 55-minute basic lesson on American Tango, this will be a great dance. We'll follow the lesson with music for all the ballroom dances but with an extra measure of carefully chosen Tango music. We'll also have a good proportion of music for the popular social dances such as West Coast Swing, Country 2-Step, Salsa, Bachata and Nightclub 2-Step.
