The Manhattan Parks and Recreation Foundation (MPRF) is excited to announce a new event for our community and surrounding areas! This event will be hosted annually on the Fourth of July in years to come. For our first year, we will be launching a cardboard regatta race for children ages 5-14! Children will build a boat with the help of an adult made from cardboard and duct tape. Both of these items will be provided at the event. While we will have some additional provisions to cut and shape the cardboard to your design, these are limited, and it is recommended for participants to provide their own cutting utensil (no power tools please).
Our contestants will be racing across the City Pool located at City Park. The safety of our participants is most important to us. To ensure their safety, we will have lifeguards on site for safety and do recommend personal floatation devices if necessary.
The hope of this event is to bring together citizens of Manhattan and surrounding areas to celebrate together in a fun way! We will be adding to our event in following years, allowing for all ages to participate and bring new people to our great city!
