Stanislavski in Sanchari: A Masterclass

In this debut masterclass, Kavya Ganesh will share with participants how to combine techniques of western theatre and classical dance abhinaya to facilitate a multidisciplinary approach to expression and movement.

This intimately structured masterclass, devised and conducted by Kavya Ganesh, exposes you to Stanislavski's techniques and concepts, carefully tailored for the bharatanatyam dancer, thereby giving you new entrypoints for your dance work. The masterclass will include an introduction to Stanislavskis concepts such as 'given circumstances' and 'inner imagery', and unique practical and theoretical work with chosen sancharis and movement phrases.

Eligibility:

• Advanced level bharatanatyam-trained dancer
• Must have prior experience learning and performing sancharis
• No knowledge of the Stanislavski method or theatre is required
