About this Event

Interactive Hand-On Learning Experience with Horses

Standing Strong with Horses is a teen and young adult empowerment program that truly works. Lead by Kim Seng, Standing Strong with Horses implements her unique approach to the Equine Assisted Learning and Activities Method. This teaching method is based on 20 years of experiential hands on learning with horses and teens. Equine Assisted Learning and Activities Method, engages students in multiple learning modalities: self-discovery, experiential and mindful-reflection, trial and error, and problem solving. All of these modes are paramount for the students to acquire and apply knowledge, skills and feelings in relevant setting for daily life.

These activities take place with horses on the ground, therefore, not about riding. The out come of the work is designed to bring about positive change and build resilience. The horses used in the program are professionally trained for this method and are respectful and well mannered. Safety of our students is our main concern at Equine Assisted Learning and Activities. Kim Seng, professional facilitator oversees the activities and produces the events. Emphasis will be on self-esteem, social awareness, relationship skills, decision-making, and self-regulation. The approach is focused and intentional, producing marked results.

The Standing Strong with Horses workshop addresses the above principles. This is a series of Four Workshops with hands-on, interactive human and horse activities. Each workshop is a three- hour session outdoors with horses. Please dress appropriate with closed toed shoes, bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle and a snack for the mid-break. Kim Seng - Director and Professional Facilitator of Standing Horse, LLC An Equine Assisted Learning and Activities Method, Standing Strong with Horses.

My work with horses has been a life long journey and passion, which started some 40 years ago at an equine rescue facility. The nurturing and rehabilitating of these majestic animals jump started my understanding of how they are so mistreated and so misunderstood. Their hearts are forgiving and willing to shift in trying to move past emotional trauma. This was an eye opening observation to the lessons I learned with horses. I continue to work with horses and owners in relationship training to teach the true nature of the horse, helping the human to develop an understanding from the horses prospective. While working in the horse and human relationship field I started looking at other areas that horses were making an impact on personal growth and health. I personally moved into this area of working with disadvantage youth and adults on physical, mental and emotional levels. Over the last 20 years I have worked in the method of Equine Assisted Learning with organizations and therapists. This work has allowed me to hone my skills and knowledge to develop programs, to train staff and to lead facilitation teams. I am living my dream and mission by contributing to the emotional and social growth of our youth, with opportunities to participate in engaging, stimulating, equine activities that have current real-life content.
