About this Event
You know that split second when you’re getting out of your car at night and suddenly you’re hyper-aware of everything?
Yeah. We’re training for that moment.
Simplyherwellness x mendoza womens boxing club is hosting a womens self defencse class about real-life, everyday situations that women actually deal with.
Think:
- Getting out of your car in a parking garage
- Walking into your apartment building alone
- Someone standing too close in line
- A stranger asking for help that feels… off
- Someone grabbing your wrist
- Being followed
We’re breaking down exactly what to do, how to move, where to strike if necessary, how to use your voice, and most importantly — how to trust your instincts without second-guessing yourself.
This class is:

✨ Designed for real-world scenarios
✨ Zero ego, all support
And no — this isn’t a boxing class. We’re not training you for a match.
*But if you do want to learn how to throw a punch for fitness and fun, Mendoza boxing club offers boxing classes, including womens only on Tues/Thurs:
Mendoza Boxing Club is a competitive, community-based gym dedicated to developing athletes at the provincial and national levels. Owned by Oneal Mendoza, who has a long history in local and provincial boxing and has coached champions at multiple levels of competition, the club emphasizes discipline, technical excellence, and long-term athlete development within a culture of mentorship and accountability.
The Women’s Program, led by nationally and provincially certified competitive coach Naseem Bains, includes a weekly free open-invite sparring program held on Sundays. The Female Focused Fight Club creates a structured, high-level training environment where women and girls from across the Lower Mainland can train together regardless of gym affiliation. The program works to reduce financial and structural barriers by providing accessible training opportunities and ongoing mentorship, with particular attention to supporting high-risk youth who may otherwise lack pathways into organized sport.
In addition to competitive training, the Women’s Program hosts self-defence workshops for women, youth, and community organizations. These sessions focus on practical skills, situational awareness, and confidence-building, reinforcing the program’s broader commitment to empowerment, safety, and equitable access to sport.
This is about:
- Awareness over anxiety
- Confidence over fear
- Strategy over panic
Because self-defense isn’t about being aggressive.
It’s about being prepared.
It’s giving: “I hope I never need this… but if I do? I’m good.”

We are also kindly asking for donations towards Surrey Womens Centre- with a priority of warm clothing for women towards the sharing closet program:
Our Sharing Closet offers free clothes, bedding and small household items. Comfort kits are also available. Our kits include travel-size toiletries like soap, shampoo, deodorant and toothpaste.
This program increases a woman’s self-esteem and independence by providing everyday essentials to start a new life.
