Stan Grant - In Conversation with Simon Marnie

Join us at NSW Parliament for a thought-provoking discussion with award-winning author, presenter and journalist, Stan Grant, on the impact of one of the most influential books of scientific literature: On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin.

With Simon Marnie as the host, Stan Grant will share his views and perspectives on the impact such a book has made on First Nation beliefs and practices, faith, laws, science, education, morality and culture. A first edition copy of the On the Origin of Species, held in the historic collections of the Parliament of NSW library, will be on display for the event.

Stan Grant, a Wiradjuri and Kamilaroi man, is an award-winning journalist, presenter, filmmaker and author having reported from over 80 countries and spent time living in London, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and Beijing. Stan has published 7 books on identity, culture as well as Australia’s First Nations history and future, including Talking To My Country which won the Walkley Book Award.

Simon Marnie has more than 30 years of experience in the Australian media industry. His broadcasting career began in the 1980s, leading to roles at Triple J, SBS and ABC, where he worked across radio and television. He was formerly a familiar voice on ABC’s Weekends, covering Sydney’s vibrant culture and diverse communities.
