Giardino Foresta | Charlottesville, VA
About this Event
In this guided workshop, you’ll learn the art of mounting a staghorn fern—an epiphytic plant that, in nature, grows gracefully along tree canopies. Mounting not only highlights its sculptural elegance but also honors the way it is meant to live and thrive.
You’ll be led through the full process of wrapping and mounting your fern, while gaining a deeper understanding of the “why” behind this practice. This is more than a workshop—it’s an opportunity to create a lasting, living piece that continues to offer a sense of calm, connection, and vitality well beyond the experience itself.
What’s included:
- One staghorn fern
- Mounting materials (wood board with wall-mount hardware, moss, wire)
- Step-by-step guided instruction
- A plant mister
- Printed care guide
- Seasonal refreshments sourced from the farm
- Guided farm walk
Your finished piece is also compatible with Giardino Foresta's Heartwood Design System, allowing you to expand and evolve your living installation over time. Attendees will receive an exclusive discount code to purchase Heartwood pieces online after the class.
You’ll leave with a fully mounted fern ready to hang, along with the knowledge and confidence to care for it, bringing the grounding presence of nature into your space for months and years to come.
No prior experience is required.
Outdoor Experience & Weather Policy
At Giardino Foresta, our workshops are designed as immersive outdoor experiences, held within a shaded, covered woodland setting that reflects the natural environments we draw inspiration from.
We intentionally schedule our gatherings to avoid the warmest hours of the day during peak summer months, allowing for a more comfortable and restorative experience. However, as we are working in harmony with nature, conditions may vary and remain inherently unpredictable.
We kindly ask that all attendees arrive prepared to spend time outdoors and to engage with the elements—this is an essential part of the experience. While the space is sheltered, fluctuations in temperature, humidity, and weather may still be felt.
For your comfort, we provide sunscreen, insect repellent, and cold water at each workshop.
In the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions, classes may be rescheduled or canceled. Should this occur, attendees will be offered the option to transfer to a new date or receive a full refund.
By joining us, you are stepping into a more natural rhythm—one that invites both beauty and variability.
