In year 12 of holding community events, the August Wilson & Beyond Seminar returns to Gem of the Ocean. It's 1904 in Pittsburgh's Hill District. Citizen Barlow needs to cleanse his soul, so he follows the people's instructions to seek out Aunt Ester, the Hill's 285-year-old spiritual matriarch, who carries the memories and wisdom of the ancestors.
The event includes catered lunch, staged reading performance of selections from the play by Theatre in the X, and multigenerational small group discussions led by the 2024 class members.
