About this Event
Are you an aspiring performer? Or are you interested in helping performers with installing equipment?
Did you know that many places require aerialists and pole dancers to bring their own apparatuses and equipment? The stage pole is the safest bet for a pole dancer because it does not require attachment to anything. Therefore, it can be used almost anywhere. This workshop is also great for Lyra artists, because Lollipop uses the same base.
During the first hour, this workshop has goals to:
1) Give you hands-on team experience installing a stage pole
2) Give you hands-on team experience taking apart a stage pole
3) Inform you of how the industry works
4) Increase your professionalism
5) Provide you with resources (options on where to rent, buy etc.)
6) Facilitate discussion & peer learning
During the last hour, a team of up to 3 people will have a 25-minute slot to install and take apart the stage pole. We only have 1 stage pole, so testing will occur one team at a time. Completion within 25 min will be given a certificate of proficiency. This tells us that we can assign you gigs that involve equipment installation without supervision. Near completion will be given a certificate of approaching proficiency. This tells us that we need an extra person as guidance should you be given a gig. Less than 3/4 task completion will be given a 50% off discount code to take the next workshop offering.
Sample of an equipment gig (could be to set up for a dancer, photoshoot, or bday party)
Sample of a performance gig.
Basically, you get more points on your resume if you're able to set up the stage pole + perform.
IMPORTANT: This workshop does NOT guarantee gigs. The workshop is only designed to increase your knowledge about the industry and give you hands-on experience with equipment. We cannot go back to previous slides or lessons to accommodate students who come late.
Workshop starts at 3:30 PM, but students are encouraged to come at 3:15 PM. No refund.
You are welcome to join us for dinner after the workshop! :) Dinner price not included in ticket.
