On Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 4:00 (*note: the 4:00 p.m. event has now sold out) and 7:00 p.m., St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will present the Christmas portion of George Frideric Handel’s masterpiece oratorio Messiah. The community chorus of over 100 singers is under the direction of Tom Berdos, Music Director at St. Peter’s. It is accompanied by Deborah Berdos, St. Peter’s organist, and a 26-piece professional orchestra. Messiah is known for its uplifting text, drawn directly from scripture, and its transcendently beautiful solos, choruses, and orchestral score. It has been performed each year in all corners of the musical world since its premiere performance in Dublin in 1742. The December 15 concerts at St. Peter’s will include the beloved “Hallelujah Chorus” as well as the final “Amen,” Handel’s musical signature that concludes the oratorio.Featured soloists include Monica Ziglar (soprano), Amy Yovanovich (mezzo), Christyan Seay (tenor), and Richard Zuch (bass). Each soloist has a distinguished performing career, regionally and nationally.
