Opening act 8:30pm: Alan Moffat
Alan Moffat is a Scottish-born, Canada-based songwriter who’s been a staple of the open mic scene for over 20 years. Known for his heartfelt lyrics that swing between the funny and the deeply moving, Alan brings warmth, wit, and honesty to every performance. Whether he’s sharing a tender ballad or a cheeky tune that gets the crowd laughing, his songs always strike a chord. Alan occasionally hosts the Riverboat Monday open mic at Noonan’s Pub, where his welcoming presence and musical storytelling have made him a local favorite.
Headliner: Old Man Flanagan's Ghost (with special guest Kyle Sullivan)
Old Man Flanagan's Ghost have been bringing music with a Celtic heart to audiences for years. Best described as ‘engaging Celtic folk/rock’ they combine the sound of folk instruments with a passionate intensity. Performing original music, fiddle tunes, sing-a-long pub rousers, and folk-style story-telling songs whose haunting melodies and warm vocals would ‘bring a tear to a glass-eye’.
The core of OMFG members are Bexy Ashworth on fiddle/vocals, the talented multi-instrumentalist Matti Palonen on whistle, vocals and other instruments, Gary Grant (Riverdance) on bodhrán & drums/vocals, Murray Foster (Great Big Sea) on bass/vocals, and Stephen Lamb on guitar and lead vocals. With several talented guest musicians occasionally joining OMFG for live performances, they are regarded as featuring dynamic fiddling and engaging songs. With their rendition of classic Celtic and east coast covers, traditional fiddle tunes, and a variety of original tunes, they invite the audience to participate in a fun, energetic stage show that can be enjoyed by all.
Imagine the smell of the sea, cold pints of beer, old shipwrecks, stories of love and loss, and boisterous friends sharing a laugh and a song. Now mix it with an instrumentation that takes you on a journey east, and a feeling of being welcomed into your neighbour’s home for a kitchen party, THAT is the essence of Old Man Flanagan’s Ghost.
