About this Event

St. John’ Church in Savannah has supported the Sisters for many years. The Sisters of St. Mary in Malawi are members of Community of St. Mary. The Sisters’ convent in Malawi, Africa, was the first new foundation for CSM in the new century, dedicated in 2004, a community of faithful women dedicated to the life of prayer and to the education of children.

The Malawian Sisters need your help in building a new convent to serve in their mission of prayer and service for the century. Housing is a critical national issue in Malawi, but the new convent will include a three-story structure for living areas and work space, with an attached two-story chapel large enough for 30 Sisters in choir and 100 guests on occasion. The Sisters borrowed from both the design of the convent in Peekskill and the planning they witnessed when the American Sisters built a new convent in Greenwich.
