The S. S. American is sailing between New York and England with a comically colorful assemblage of passengers: Reno Sweeney (Marsala Lukianchuk), a popular nightclub singer and former evangelist, her pal Billy Crocker (Tom Sargeant), a lovelorn Wall Street broker who has come aboard to try to win the favor of his beloved Hope Harcourt (Macayla Vaughn); who is engaged to another passenger, Sir Evelyn Oakleigh (Harry Clark), and a second-rate con man named Moonface Martin (Mark Hiscox), aka "Public Enemy #13." Song, dance, and farcical antics ensue as Reno and Moonface try to help Billy win the love of his life. Directed by Dustin Bowers with choreography by Melissa Earle and music direction by Justin Hiscox, this 2022 version, based on the 1987 Lincoln Centre production, features a revised script and is updated in light of contemporary sensibilities. Some scenes may be mildly suggestive in nature or in language; PG Suggested.
