Our usual long wait for the next Bank Holiday into the new year has been rapidly shortened this year with the announcement of the new Bank Holiday Sunday, On Sun Feb 5th. This one is going to be fairly mental, with it being the first payday weekend of the year, and end of the pointless Dry January! :) Get your tickets early for this one, it has SOLD OUT written all over it!!
As St Brigid's Day traditionally celebrates the creativity of women, and we are delighted to hand over the DJ reigns to a killer line-up of Ireland Finest Female Dj Talent. Headliner on the night is LEGEND of the Irish club scene Aoife Nic Canna, playing house BANGERS all night long. Also on the bill as always is Brazilian Beaut and Bukkake Resident Mao Monteiro. Newcomer to us for Bukkake is the outragously talented Sleepless Beauty. Completing the bill is Scene Stalwart DJ Ruth maning the decks in the Pop Lounge. She's the ULTIMATE backroom PopBitch :)
AOIFE NIC CANNA
Aoife Nic Canna has been a leading force in the Irish dance music scene since its initial emergence in the early 1990s and she continues to open up new paths for the scene with a range of club nights and DJ projects.
Named the first lady of Irish house music by Hot Press magazine, Aoife has had a number of residencies in the city over the past 23 years, including at U2’s The Kitchen, the Rock Garden, No 4 Dame Lane, and a legendary (and infamous!) eight-year stint at Ri-Ra. Her current DJ residencies are at Ukiyo Bar and The Liquor Rooms in Dublin and at The Blind Pig in Limerick. The Irish Times has included Aoife in their Top 10 Irish DJs and Broadcasters.
Aoife had played a huge range of clubs and festivals internationally. She performed a series of gigs at Dry Bar in Manchester’s legendary Hacienda Club, and she has been a headliner in Sheffield, in Brighton, at the Cosmopolis Festival in Lisbon, at the Fame Festival in France, and at the Knockan Stockan Festival. She is also part of the hugely popular Radio Shack crew at the Body and Soul Festival and at Electric Picnic. An original member of Dublin’s Horny Organ Tribe, she co hosted a HOT reunion event, “Hot as Phuck”, at The Grand Social in June 2013.
