Beginning April 29, we will explore St. Bonaventure's "Life of St. Francis" with Br. Thomas Piolata, a Capuchin friar, Bonaventure scholar, and professor at The Catholic University of America. We will meet for three lectures in person at The Port, and be joined virtually by Br. Thomas.
St. Bonaventure, a second generation Franciscan, is a major figure in the Franciscan intellectual tradition and is considered the "Seraphic Doctor" of the church. Bonaventure's life of St. Francis is a medieval biography, exploring not only the details of Francis' life, but develops a profound theology budding forth from the Saints life and spirituality.
Wednesdays from April 29 - May 13.
7:15 PM in The Port

About our Presenter:
Br. Thomas is a Capuchin friar and a Professor of Theology at The Catholic University of America. His research focuses on the Franciscan intellectual tradition. Within this tradition, he is especially interested in the figure and writings of St. Francis of Assisi and the theology of St. Bonaventure. Thematically, much of his most recent and ongoing scholarship explores topics related to pneumatology and Trinitarian theology. In addition to the Franciscan tradition, Br. Thomas has a keen interest in the thought of the great 20th century theologian, Romano Guardini.
