Sri Thyagaraja and Sri Venkatamakhi Aradhana is an Annual Temple Event. We were blessed to begin this tradition in the divine presence of Dr. Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji during the consecration of the Marakata Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple in 2015.

Program Details:
*Unchavrutti Kritis rendetition with procession around the temple, followed by utsava Sampradaya Kritis, Sri Venkatamakhi Lakshana Geetams and Pancharatna kritis by all the students ,music rasikas and Gurus of DFW area.

Saint Thyagaraja was one of the greatest composers of Carnatic Music. A prolific composer and highly influential in the development of the classical musical tradition, Thyagaraja composed thousands of devotional compositions. These musical gems, mostly in Telugu and written in praise of Lord Rama, remain very popular even today.
Five compositions have gained particular recognition in the classical music community and are widely known as Ghana Raaga Pancha Ratnas or Pancharatna Kritis reference the gems of five great ragas.
Sri Venkatamakhi was an eminent scholar and genius in musicology and the founder of the famous Melakarta scheme. A great scholar in Meemamsa, he wrote the an epoch-making and immortal music research work known as 'Chaturdandi Prakasika' which is a landmark in the annals of Carnatic music.
The system of 72 Melas, which is the bedrock upon which the entire science of Modem South Indian music is based, was created by Sri Venkatamakhi. In this stupendous and monumental work (dealing with Raaga Lakshana), Venkatamakhi gave his nomenclature of the 72 Melas and classified the Janya Ragas and their Lakshanas. He was also a renowned composer of Lakshya Gitas and Prabandas. HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji belongs to the venerable lineage of Sri Venkatamakhi.
