SPY is a five-piece hardcore punk band from the San Francisco Bay Area. Their chimeric tracks shift in an instant from rock and roll riffs to injure-somebody hardcore and back again, all over a distorted, dystopian backdrop. Nowhere is this more clear than on SATISFACTION, their debut LP, releasing June 2nd, 2023, via Triple B Records.
SPY formed out of the lightning in a bottle Bay Area DIY scene in 2020 and made an immediate impact with their SERVICE WEAPON EP, six minutes and forty-nine seconds of raw, distorted hardcore punk. The EP HABITUAL OFFENDER followed in 2021. Their LP release arrives amidst two consecutive years of US-EU touring, with no let-up in sight.
DOSE from Iowa are certainly finding their dna in basement energy and giving a full body sacrifice to the core. It's fast, it's dirty, it's certainly abrasive, it's Dose Midwest Hardcore.
SPINE Hailing from Kansas City, respectively, SPINE play the type of hardcore that’s unforgiving and uncompromising. The band takes a unique perspective on the genre, fusing late 80’s youth crew inspired punk such as Youth of Today and fuses it with the grit influenced by bands such as Despise You and Think I Care.
TOTAL SHAM "I like “capital A” Art and experimentation as much as the next music nerd, but sometimes you just want a band to kick your ass. TOTAL SHAM is just the group. No-frills, no-bullshit hardcore that recalls the best of ’80s Midwest punk like NEGATIVE APPROACH and DIE KREUZEN with their shredded power chords, raw vocals, and stark album art and logo. Every song is a punch in the teeth: urgent, fast, and vital. “Mind/Matter” and “M**der on My Mind” are straight-up classics (we even get a “one, two, fuck you!” count off on the latter), and distill everything powerful about punk into potent audio cyanide capsules. The rest of the record is as strong, with arrangements as ear-catching as they are piercing. If you like hardcore punk of any era, it comes highly recommended." -Maximum RocknRoll review of Total Sham's S/T Album.
