Maricopa Music Circle and Maricopa Chorus are back together this spring to bring you a lovely mix of classical delights and the meaningful melodies you remember. Join us Saturday, April 6st, 2024 at 3pm (matinee!) at our favorite venue, Maricopa Agricultural Center! Now in our 14th season MMC, and Maricopa Chorus in their 11th wonderful year, join forces once again to usher in the budding of springtime.This performance is bursting with classical works including an Edvard Grieg double-header with his oh-so recognizable Moring Mood and the sultry Solveig’s Song, a snappy Scarlatti Sonata in G, and Shostakovich’s lovely Waltz No. 2, the Jazz Waltz. What a ‘Suite Dance’! And don’t forget Maricopa Chorus’s sublime offerings of Thomas Tallis’ If Ye Love Me, colorful favorites like The Beatles’, I Will, and with the orchestra, An Irish Blessing is sure to give you all the feels. We’re even going to have a go at When the Saints Go Marchin In, just so you leave with your dancing shoes on! Much more will be offered in this full, intermissioned performance: combinations of instruments, lovely variety of sounds and even some silly stuff!
MMC is unique because it performs standard orchestral music and popular favorites entirely without a conductor. Launched in 2010 by composer Judith Zaimont, its instrumentation morphs regularly as new performers come on board -- producing a rich and colorful sound. MMC is our city’s premier chamber orchestra featuring local musicians sharing their artistry and love of music. The Maricopa Chorus launched in 2013 under the direction of founder John Janzen and today, Maricopa Chorus celebrates its new conductor Philip Coleman, showing their love of choral music and dedication to all-things-arts in Maricopa. With our regularly-changing cast, MMC and Maricopa Chorus invite you to share your love of choral and orchestral music! All instruments and voices are welcomed, and a well-versed pianist is especially sought.
