About this Event
Come along on Wednesday 1st April at 10am - 12pm for a guided walk around this ancient semi-natural woodland.
The Forest is a home to nearly 180 plant species and over 50 species of birds, including woodpeckers, nuthatches, treecreepers, tawny owls and sparrowhawks. Roe deer, foxes and bats can also be seen and the site is particularly good for amphibians including the common toad and great crested newt, making it a regionally important site.
Come and spend some time immersed in nature and celebrate the changing seasons with us. You will learn more about the wildlife in the area, including the work of the local "Toad Patrol"!
Important information:
The walk is approximately 1.5 miles through woodland. The walk itself is flat and on well-established paths. However, it can get muddy so walking boots or wellington boots are highly recommended. We will walk at a gentle pace with lots of opportunities to stop and ask questions.
This walk is aimed at adults (18+ years old). Unfortunately this site is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with limited mobility. Please do not bring dogs on this walk.
Parking and meeting place:
The Drift Golf Club, The Drift, East Horsley, Surrey KT24 5HD - see images below
We will meet in the golf club car park and The Forest is then a short walk from there.
Toilets are accessible at the golf club before and after the walk.
