Join Bangor Beautiful during Maine Arbor Week as we plant 16 native street trees on Main Street in front of the Waterfront Concert Fence Murals.Our goal is to make this area greener, cooler, safer, and more beautiful by adding native trees along the street. These trees will help provide shade, support wildlife, manage stormwater, improve the pedestrian experience, and grow Bangor’s urban tree canopy.
The trees will be 6 to 8 feet tall when planted, and each tree will have fragrant sumac planted as a ground cover at the base to create a more resilient and attractive planting.
We’d love your help planting!
When: Friday, May 22, 2026, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Where: 1 Railroad Street, Bangor
What to bring: Gloves, water, and a shovel if you have one. We’ll have tools available as well.
You can also support the planting by sponsoring one or more trees through our Buy Bangor A Tree program. Tree sponsorships are $150 each and help cover the cost of the trees, planting materials, and care.
