About this Event

Spring Term is a colorful new artist from Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduating with a music technology degree and sharing stages with acts like Yoke Lore and Coast Modern with other bands, Nathan Davis was ready to step out on his own. A musical and lyrical dive into childhood resulted in the six song debut from Spring Term, out this fall. It tells the story of childhood chronologically, from innocent games of hopscotch to considering mortality for the first time. Fusing wide ranging influences from Tierra Whack to David Bowie, Kiddo is out now.

“Kiddo” is the highly anticipated debut EP from Spring Term - a “storybook pop” exploration of the sound of childhood. The EP moves chronologically, adding layers of complexity in sonics and lyrical topics ranging from a childhood crush to a vague discovery of mortality. Performed and produced by Nathan Davis, “Kiddo” is brimming with youthful energy and sonic texture. There is a lot of ear ear candy to be found in the project as well. Similar melodies and instruments tend to sneak their way into each song, creating a fluid experience that feels both familiar and slightly off-kilter. Songs like “Hopscotch” are a perfect example of the juxtaposition this EP consistently contends with - a lone acoustic guitar meets a subby drum machine, sounds of doors slamming, and stacks of manipulated choir voices as the topic of innocence is explored by a gently delivered vocal. As “Kiddo” revisits the past, it promises to expose the present - and marks the beginning of the career of a promising young artist.
