Spring Spar-B-Q: 2026 A FREE Celebration of Martial Arts and Community
After the fantastic success of our 2025 Grand Opening Spar-B-Q, we have to do it again!! It was too much fun not to...
Join us for an unforgettable day of sparring, food, and camaraderie!
We have decided that twice a year (in the spring and fall, because to hell with Oklahoma summers) we're going to throw a big party for all of our friends. What kind of party, you ask? Well, the best kind of party. One where we fight till we drop!
We have a giant open park by the school where we’re going to set up a bunch of rings.
Martial artists from all over the region come to this event! Last time we had folks form Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas) and more. This community comes from a huge variety of backgrounds (Including Japanese arts, HEMA, Filipino arts, Thai arts, Malaysian Arts, Lightsaber, Buhurt, and more!)
We’ll have stations set up with loaner gear and soft weapons available for beginners and instructors on hand, so whether you're a seasoned martial artist with your own kit or simply curious about the world of martial arts, this is a day you don’t want to miss!
Not only we will have sparring but we will also have a full slate of FREE seminars. So you can get to know our instructors and our arts.

What to Expect:
• Open Sparring: Find a partner, find an open ring, and go! We want to keep the event casual and fun for everyone, so we expect everyone to keep the contact controlled and the spirit light.
• Many Formats: Weapon sparring will include everything from foam boffers, to rattan, to lightsabers, to steel swords. We’ll also have SUMO rings set up!! Really anything you want to do and can find a partner for.
• Feast: We’ll be cooking out a bunch of food, the menu is still TDB, but we’ll post it when we know. If you have special dietary restrictions, you may want to bring your own, to be on the safe side.
• Seminars: Join in on the full calednar or seminars and get to know our instructors and our arts.
• Community Connection in the Club: When you’re taking a break from sparring and stuffing your face, relax in the A/C at the club and hang out with this great group of people.

What to Bring?
• A good attitude and an appetite. 😊
• PROTECTIVE GEAR!!! Your safety is going to be your responsibility. You need to bring sufficient protective gear for the type of sparring that you want to do. We’ll have some very limited loaner gear, but it’s best to bring your own.
• Training Weapons. Again, we’ll have some loaners, but it’s always best to bring your own.
• Folding Camp Chairs. We’ll have some, but you’re going to be tired and you’ll want a dedicated spot for yourself.
• Sun Awnings / Canopies. It’s June in Oklahoma folks and there’s not a ton of shade out there.
• Water…water…WATER.

Who Can Attend?
This event is open to everyone – students, families, friends, and anyone interested in martial arts or just a fun day out. You can play, you can watch, or you can just hang out. Whether you’re a beginner or a black belt, there’s something for you to enjoy at the Spar-B-Q!
