Spring Plant Walk- Learn How to Identify Plants & Enjoy the Outdoors

Meeting Spot:

Picnic tables under the covered pavillion (host will have a sign with them)

Description:

Get to know the plants and smells of Southern California's chaparral! We'll learn the names and traditional uses of common chaparral plants and experience the scents they have to offer. Spring is around the corner and the wildflowers are blooming: Lupine, Sunflower, Phacelia, Wild Hyacinth, and many more. If conditions are good, we may even find some mushrooms, such as the springtime amanita. Stop and smell the sagebrush while we explore our local habitat.

Guest Teacher:

Enyo (they/them) is an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast. Although they studied geology and water science in college, plants and mushrooms were their first passion. They have led nature walks as a docent at Topanga Canyon State Park and now lead mushroom forays in late fall and winter. During their free time, they enjoy fiber arts and speculative fiction.

Parking:

On-site parking and overflow parking in a gravel equestrian lot

Accessibility:

Wheelchair accessible for 500 m , benches available, mostly flat and wide packed dirt path
