Spring Open Read Meetup: Radical Intimacy
About this Event
Some books don’t ask for permission. They take up space, stretch the edges of what feels acceptable, and dare you to sit with it. This spring, we read them together.
Feminist Fiction Berlin – Spring Open Read Meetup
Every last Saturday of April, May, and June we get together at the serene Karuna Pavilion to share coffee, tea, treats and reflect on some amazing stories
Come as you are. Leave a little more awake.
Third Gathering: Radical Intimacy
For our final spring session on the 30th of June, we’ll be reading Radical Intimacy by Sophie K Rosa: a thought-provoking exploration of love, friendship, care, and connection in a world increasingly shaped by capitalism, individualism, and digital life.
Part cultural criticism, part personal reflection, Radical Intimacy invites us to examine the relationships we often take for granted. Why do we place romantic love at the center of our lives? What forms of care and community have we neglected? And what might become possible if we imagined intimacy differently?
Rather than offering simple answers, Rosa opens a space for curiosity and experimentation, encouraging us to think beyond conventional relationship scripts and toward more expansive ways of relating to one another.
About the Author
Sophie K Rosa is a writer, researcher, and cultural critic whose work sits at the intersection of feminism, politics, philosophy, and everyday life. Her writing is known for weaving together theory and lived experience, making complex ideas accessible without losing their depth. In Radical Intimacy, she asks one of the most urgent questions of our time: how do we create meaningful connection in a society that often leaves us isolated?
What to Expect:
This is not a space for perfect interpretations or polished opinions.
We gather to:
– speak closely, or simply listen
– explore desire, boundaries, and self-definition
– sit with ambiguity rather than resolve it too quickly
– connect literature with lived experience
Expect a conversation that drifts between the personal and the political, the intimate and the collective.
Why Join This Session?
Because intimacy is political.
Because friendship deserves as much attention as romance.
Because some of the most meaningful conversations happen when strangers gather around a book and leave feeling a little less like strangers.
Reserve your spot with the commitment to show up!
Spaces are limited to keep the circle intimate and free to keep the access barrier low. We rely on you being there to make this work.Bring your copy, your curiosity, your questions — or just yourself.
Come thoughtful. Come open. Come as you are.
Note: the event takes place at the Karuna Pavilion in cooperation with and powered by For Everyone Berlin. You will be expected to buy a drink while you are there! FLINTA ONLY!
