About this Event
There are stories that don’t just sit quietly on a page: they pulse, they itch, they refuse to be ignored. This spring, we gather around them!
Feminist Fiction Berlin – Spring Open Read Meetups are here:
Every last Saturday of April, May, and June we get together at the serene Karuna Pavilion to share coffee, tea, treats and reflect on some amazing stories
We begin this season with The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman — a story that creeps under your skin and stays there.
Gilman was a writer; a fierce thinker and early feminist who challenged the roles imposed on women in the late 19th century. After experiencing a “rest cure” prescribed for her own mental health, she wrote The Yellow Wallpaper as both a warning and a rebellion. What unfolds is deeply personal, unsettling, and sharp in its critique of a system that confuses control with care.
It’s not just a story about madness — it’s about what creates it.
What to Expect:
No pressure to perform, no need to arrive with polished thoughts.
We gather to:
• read (or simply listen)
• reflect on desire, repression, imagination, and voice
• trace the echoes between past and present
• speak, or not speak, and still belong
And This Is Just the Beginning…
Each session will open a new door — new texts, new authors, new questions we carry together. We’ll be sharing the next readings soon!
Reserve Your Spot. Spaces are limited to keep the circle intimate.
Bring a copy of the book, or just bring yourself — we’ll take care of the rest.
Come curious. Come restless. We’ll be waiting to share this moment together.
Note: the event takes place at the Karuna Pavilion in cooperation with and powered by For Everyone Berlin. You will be expected to buy a drink while you are there!
