Join us for this Spring KickOff Film Screening Event with two of our young and prominant Hmong filmmakers. Ger Moua is a Hmong American artist and filmmaker in St. Paul, MN. He studied and graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design with a BFA in Filmmaking. Ger began exploring cinematography during college and was involved in filming, editing and directing short films, feature-lengths and music videos for local Hmong artists and businesses. He produced his first short film, Love After Death (2015) and was later hired as a cinematographer for the feature-film, On Love Online (2017). Ger went on to produce, direct, and shoot, and edit his own short film, The Soul Hunters (2018), and received Best Cinematography award at the “Qhia Dab Neeg Film Festival.” In 2020, Ger won a grant with the Minnesota State Arts Board to produce his latest film, Sun & Moon (2021).

Dan Yang, 28 is a filmmaker based in Saint Paul, MN. He studied Cinema at Columbia College Chicago and is also a proud graduate from there, finishing his degree in 2016. Dan believes that films have the ability to influence, change and explore social issues. He is an active member of InProgress, where he teaches students how to create and craft their stories.
Dan seeks to explore Hmong themes and stories through the medium of film, hoping that it will not only open healthy dialogue but also be a catalyst for change. Dan is a proud grant recipient of the MN Cultural Stars, MN State Arts Board and the Jerome Foundation.
Currenty, Dan is working on a film based on the shooting of Fong Lee in 2006 by the MSP police department.

Free parking is available on street and at the 555 Cedar Street Parking lot located on the northeast corner of 10th St & Wabasha St. Parking inside the Church of Scientology ramp will be charged a $5 fee.
