CFAC's 2025 Spring Investment Banking Competition

CFAC Portfolio Management is excited to host the 2025 Spring Investment Banking Competition, an opportunity for undergraduate students across Canada to showcase their financial skills, refine their pitching abilities, and compete for a $1,000 prize pool.

This competition is open to all Canadian undergraduate students, with teams of 1-4 members allowed. The registration fee is $100 per team, and registration closes on March 30th at 11:59 PM PST—no late entries will be accepted.

Round 1: Case Release & Pitchbook Submission (Online)

• Case Release Date: March 31st at 12:05 AM PST
• Teams will be given a real-world M&A case, which includes a target company, relevant financials, and templates for all necessary financial models.
• Competitors will take on the role of Investment Banking Analysts/Associates, conducting valuation analyses and crafting a full pitchbook with strategic recommendations based upon the case.
• Teams will have 5 days to complete their pitchbook submission, due March 4th at 11:59 PM PST
• All first-round submissions will be evaluated by a panel of CFAC judges based on the strength of their analysis, recommendations, and presentation quality.
• The top 8 teams will advance to the next round. All teams, regaurdless of advancing, will recieve graded feedback.

Round 2: Live Presentations (In-Person)

• Date: April 6th, 2025
• Location: Big 4 Conference Room, Sauder School of Business (Henry Angus Building, UBC)
• The top 8 teams will be invited to pitch their strategies in front of a live panel of professionals from across Canada.
• Each team will present a 15-minute pitch, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session with the judges.
• The top 4 teams will advance to the final round to compete for the championship title and prize money

Info: The M&A case and official CFAC info package will be released at 12:05 AM PST. Participants will receive guidelines, pitchbook templates, and valuation resources to assist with their submissions.

Info: Teams must submit their completed pitchbooks by 11:59 PM PST on April 4th via email to CFAC's Investment Team. Late submissions will not be accepted.
All submissions will be evaluated by a panel of experienced finance professionals, with the Top 8 teams advancing to the final live round.

Info: Round 1 (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM PST): The Top 8 teams will present their strategies to a live panel of judges.
Final Round (5:00 PM - 7:00 PM PST): The Top 4 teams will advance to the championship round, competing for the $1,000 prize pool in front of industry professionals.
