About this Event
Bring the whole family along to participate in a fun-filled morning of art, movement, and theatre focused on promoting mental health and wellbeing. Feel free to drop-in for one of the schedule activities, or stick around to catch everything!
Theatre Performance with Fidgety Fairytales
One musician and a cast of six youth will perform the group’s Three Little Pigs story that focuses on managing anxiety. The show will be followed by theatre activities and puppet making.
About Fidgety Fairytales: Since 2008, Fidgety Fairy Tales has been helping kids and grown-ups have important conversations about mental health through original musical theatre performances that feature great music, gentle humor and performances by talented youth.
Children’s Yoga Sessions with Amy Bizal
A playful 30 minute yoga class focused on worries. Kids will learn yoga poses, breathing and relaxation exercises which cultivate a calm mind, increase strength flexibility, improve gross and fine motor skills, improve concentration, and help them understand how to identify and manage their feelings. A story about worry monsters, group work, and music will be incorporated into this fun, non-competitive class and give adults and children time to bond and grow together. Yoga Sessions will be followed up worry monster making craft.
About Amy Bizal: Amy is a wife and busy mom of three. When prenatal yoga changed her pregnancy, birth, and postpartum outcome, she immediately knew she wanted to pay that forward by becoming a prenatal yoga instructor. When she noticed this lifestyle starting to flow over into her family and friends and benefit them, she knew she needed to continue to help others and made the choice to become a kid yoga instructor. Amy incorporates both parents and children into sessions focused on emotional regulation and breathing techniques that can be implemented into everyday family life. Amy is a 200-hour certified yoga instructor and a Green Lotus certified kid yoga instructor.

Our hope for this event is to promote protective factors for families as an avenue for child abuse prevention. Knowing that mental health stressors continue to be a burden faced by my parents and children alike, we are focusing on bringing families and community together to support mental wellbeing across the family unit this April.
