In the beautiful setting of the fields and woodlands that surround the lakes at Cosmeston, take a journey to learn about the healing wisdom that can be found in the natural world around us.
May is one of our most vibrant months of the year, a time for growing, thriving, fertility and creation. The trees have come into leaf, and the scent of the May blossom lingers in the air. The Spring flowers are in abundance, and the plants are bursting with vital energy.
Tap into this energy and the vibrancy of Spring, as you learn upon the way how to identify and work with the plants and trees we come across. Some of these will be more familiar and well-known, whereas some will have secrets yet to be discovered.
✨Within the workshop✨
We will meet outside the café at Cosmeston, to follow then a path that leads along a boardwalk. We will then take a tree lined track that leads us across fields and up into an orchard, before heading through a little wood, down past the lakes, and back to the cafe.
Along the way, we will be learning about the edible and medicinal properties of the plants and trees that we see, what parts can be used, how to work with them safely and respectfully, and how they can be easily incorporated into daily life for improved health and well-being.
Some of the plants and trees we will expect to discover along the way will include the following:
🍃Nettles, plantain, and cleavers.
🍃Dandelions, ground ivy, and speedwell
🍃Garlic mustard, wild garlic, and hedge woundwort.
🍃Hawthorn, Elder and Apple.
🍃Primroses, Violets and Bugle.
Following our walk, when we arrive back at the café, there will be a 30 minute lunch break. There is food available at the café but you might wish to bring your own packed lunch and refreshments.
The second part of the workshop will then provide information about how to make your own natural remedies such as:
🍃Herbal infusions and decoctions
🍃Tinctures
🍃Herbal oils and salves
🍃Elixirs
🍃Home-made incense
🍃Flower essences
🍃Syrups
🍃Herbal honeys
Some examples of these, along with what you would need to create your own remedies, will be brought along to the session.
✨Additional information✨
The walk will be taken at a gentle pace, and will be approximately 1 to 1.5 miles long over 2 hours. There will be regular stopping points as we look at what is growing.
It’s recommended to wear good walking shoes for the session.
You may wish to bring something with you to make notes along the way.
Please bring along any refreshments and water for the session itself.
Cost of the session is £32.50.
