“Spring Flowers and Ferments” Forage at Carswell Farm

Come and learn to forage a feast of edible wild spring blossoms and ferment your own gut balancing wild pickles from the beautiful organic meadows of Carswell Farm.

In Spring, Carswell’s fields and hedgerows burst with blossoms and flavourful wild greens. Join foragers Trudy and Freya for a hands-on day of foraging, cooking and fermenting, as we create a wild meal to share, plus a few gut friendly goodies to take home.

After a gentle foraging walk over the farm, we’ll prepare a seasonal feast featuring fresh salad, nourishing soup, crispy blossom tempura and flower decorated cakes. You’ll also make your own lacto-fermented wild garlic and pickled wild vegetables to enjoy later.

Come hungry for connection, creativity and the vibrant tastes of spring!

Please wear suitable footwear for walking across fields and uneven ground.

Due to the terrain, there is very limited access for anyone with mobility impairments, we are also unable to accommodate dogs for this event.

“I have been fascinated by wild foods for most of my life. Working in conservation in South Devon for 20 years gave me the privilege to explore the hidden valleys, coastline, estuaries and woodlands and experience nature daily at first hand. I love to use wild food in favourite recipes and explore ways of preserving it. Sharing knowledge and good food together is a fabulous way to spend time in nature. I have led foraging events for the National Trust, South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Deer Wood Trust, Ackerll’s Rewilding Project and for families and celebrations. I have led forages at Carswell Farm for Newton Ferrers Primary School for several years. Now, thanks to the owners, I have the chance to share the wild riches of over a thousand acres of carefully managed organic land and seashore with you. “
