The Pomona Concert Band proudly presents their annual Spring Concert titled "Musical Masters, Past and Present" on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 7:30 pm. The concert will be held in the Palomares Park Community Center, 499 E. Arrow Hwy in Pomona and is sponsored by the City of Pomona. The concert is to be directed by Linda W. Taylor, Jorge Garcia and Kerry Kline. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Paula Lantz, and the color guard will be headed by Heriberto Feliciano, USAF, Retired. Refreshments will be served at intermission. The concert is FREE to the public.Our Spring Concert will feature music from past music masters and selected new upcoming composers. We are also proud to feature Tuba Soloist Stephen Klein performing "Largo Al Factotum" by Gioacchino Rossini. Past masters include Leonard Bernstein and his "Overture to Candide," "Fanfare and Allegro" by Clifton Williams, and three marches by John Philip Sousa, "Stars and Stripes Forever," "The National Game" and "The Beau Ideal."
Also featured on the program are several recent concert band arrangements by upcoming musical masters of composition, including Robert Sheldon with his "Glorious Insurrection," "Of Heroes and Demons" by Rob Romeyn, Yukiko Nishimura's "Northern Lights," and "To Dream With Open Eyes" by Steven Pyter.
