Through the classic story of the Spring Awakening, a group of adults unpacks their trauma in a dusty attic filled with memories of their own childhoods along with this iconic story set in a repressive 19th-century Germany. In this world where curiosity is forbidden and innocence is punished, this group of souls dares to ask the questions no one will answer with a raw, modern rock heartbeat. This production of Spring Awakening tears the corset off conformity to expose the aching beauty—and devastating consequences—of youth in bloom and also what holding onto the pain of past harm can cause us as adults.
With a score that explodes off the stage and lyrics that cut straight to the heart, Spring Awakening is more than a coming-of-age story—it’s a cry for liberation. This electrifying production from PRISM Performing Arts reimagines the cult classic with unapologetic passion and a queer lens, reminding us that every generation must fight to break free, find their voice, and awaken to their truth. The original Broadway production won 8 Tony Awards, including best musical. The production is written by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater.
