On Saturday, April 27, 2024, the City of Sioux City and the Environmental Advisory Board will hold their semi-annual Re-Event. This event will be held at the Citizen’s Convenience Center located at 5800 28th Street from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.This recycling event collects materials that can be recycled, reused, and refurbished. By not putting your recyclable waste into the trash, natural resources and energy are conserved, valuable and potentially harmful materials are recovered and landfill space is saved. This year, we will also be accepting tires, with or without the rim, and mattresses.
ACCEPTED ITEMS:
Electronics and appliances (fee varies) – price list below
Styrofoam - Must be BB or pellet style Styrofoam
Batteries accepted (free)
Light bulbs ($.50 ea.)
Tires (without the rim is $5.00, with rim is $10.00)
Mattresses ($5.00 for Twin/Full, $10.00 for Queen/King)

The money collected will assist in covering the cost of dismantling, recycling, and proper disposal. Please contact the Environmental Services Division at 712-279-6222 with questions.

Appliances are new this year with three (3) designated categories: handheld, countertop and rolling, floor, or push/pull. See below for category description.
Items now accepted with conditions but cannot contain any liquid, food, or grease:
--> Handheld $3.00 - Blenders, Electric Knife, Laptops, Mixers, Steam Cleaners, & Tablets
--> Countertop $5.00 - Air Purifiers, Blenders / Juicers, Bread Makers, Coffee/ Espresso Machines, Deep Fryer, Electric Griddle/ Grills, Electric Wok, Fax Machine / Printer, Food Dehydrators, Food Processor, Ice Cream Makers,
Meat Slicer/Grinders, Mixers, & Popcorn Maker
--> Roller/Push-Pull $10.00 - Heaters, Power Washers, Trash Compactors, & Wet/Dry Vacuums
What to do with appliances that are not accepted at the Re-Event?
We cannot accept household hazardous materials (HHMs) at the Re-Event. HHMs can be taken to the Citizen’s Convenience Center located at 5800 28th Street on Tuesday or Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please call ahead for information at 402-414-4179. Additional items NOT accepted for the Re-Event but can be disposed of through the Citizen’s Convenience Center for a small fee:

- Dehumidifiers
- Mini fridge or any fridge
- Medical/chemical equipment
- Propane grills
- Wine coolers
- PCB ballasts
